The Student Council at Washington Elementary School recently completed the first step of a year long service project benefiting The Treehouse, the Walworth County child advocacy center located in Elkhorn. Students made fleece blankets to donate for the children visiting the Treehouse. In addition, students sold coffee and hot chocolate at the recent Washington Winter Wonderland event and raised $50. Nicci Erdmann, an employee of the Treehouse, came to Washington to accept the blankets and the money. Another $88 has already been raised for donation through the purchase of “Caring Canes” at Washington’s Winter Sing!

At a remote Catholic mission in 1947 China, arrives a man in priestly robes: the long-awaited “Father O’Shea” (Humphrey Bogart).
Though seemingly uncomfortable with his priestly duties, Father O’Shea’s tough tactics prove very successful in the Seven Villages, as around them post-World War 2 China disintegrates into civil war and revolution. But Father O’Shea has a personal secret, and his friendship with the mission nurse (Gene Tierney) also seems to be taking on an unpriestly tone. Also stars Lee J. Cobb, E.G. Marshall, and Agnes Moorehead. This beautiful, under-spoken film is rarely seen on TV.
Richmond 4H club teamed up with Cub Scout pack # 173 and Whitewater Scout Troop #173 to go caroling at Mulberry Glen and The Glen on December 1st as part of their community service.
It was a great win for us against Brodhead. We had great contributions from all of our players. Kacie Carollo led with 22, followed by Cassidy Laue with 18 and Abby Grosinske with 16.

THE MITTEN TREES ARE “SPROUTING” ALL ACROSS OUR COMMUNITY!
What a great sight to see! There are 7 special “Mitten Trees” that are being decorated with all sorts of mittens, hats, scarves, socks, underwear and even snow pants to make sure none of our school children have to go out without the right gear! The UWW/Community Optimist Club has sponsored this important collection since 1991 as part of their goal to be “Friend of Youth”.
Collection sites in Whitewater include the Irvin L Young Auditorium, the University Center, First English Lutheran Church, Associated Bank, First Citizen’s State Bank, Fort Community Credit Union (FCCU), and Premier Bank. In addition to collecting mittens, hats, and scarves underwear, socks and snow pants (for elementary school kids) are encouraged, for they are used as emergency items for the kids throughout the school year. Gift cards will also be accepted by Lanora Heim, Director of Pupil Services for the Whitewater Unified School District and Coordinator of the Family Emergency fund, to purchase items as needed. Check with your church to see if they are participating.
Donations are being accepted now through Tuesday, December 18th by 4 pm.
There is especially a need for smaller sizes since there are more than 300 children under age 5 in the Whitewater Unified School District.
