Dustin Reichwald Eric is the Superintendent for DeForest schools since July 2016. 
He was an administrator for the Whitewater Unified School District for 11 years. He served as middle school principal for six years, and his final five years in Whitewater as the District Administrator.
Eric was “hooded” in Dec 2017 at Monona Terrace by Tom Ganser.
The performance will be held in the Light Recital Hall, and will feature four movements played by Cristina Ballatori on the flute, Christian Ellenwood on the clarinet, Matthew Sintchak on the saxophone, and Suzanne Geoffery on the oboe. The concert will include a variety of pieces written specifically for the woodwind instrumental combination. The musicians will be performing the jazzy piece “American Counterpoint” by David Gillingham, the multi-movement “Eclectic Trio” by Catherine McMichael, contemporary movement “Intermezzi” by Thierry Escaich, and a premiere of a brand-new piece of work from performer Christian Ellenwood. Matthew Sintchak states, “We’re very excited about this new faculty ensemble and our first public performance! We’re also thrilled to be premiering a new work written for us by a trio member and faculty colleague, Christian Ellenwood. There will be something for everyone on this program!”.
The performance is also a part of the 1st Annual “Woodwind Mania Clinic”, held on Saturday, January 27. The clinic will feature classes and recitals with UW-Whitewater faculty and guest artists, classes for woodwind players of all ages and ability levels, mass ensembles for each instrument, exhibitors, and more.
The Music Mosaic series benefits the UW-Whitewater Music Department’s Scholarship Fund, which allows for the opportunity to recognize students for their talents and academic excellence. The next performance to be held within the Music Mosaic series is the Whitewater Chamber Players, which will be at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, February 10 in the Light Recital Hall. The annual meeting of the Cemetery Association of Whitewater will be held Thursday, January 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the recreation room of Blackhawk Manor, 1155 Blackhawk Ln.

With the arrival of winter, families, students, and community members often inquire how decisions to close or delay school are made and communicated. If school is delayed or closed, the goal is to make a decision by 5:00 AM. In making the decision, the District Administrator drives the roads and consults with Nelson’s Bus Service, local snowplow drivers, and area district administrators. They will broadcast the decision on television and radio stations as well as communicate electronically via the WUSD website and Infinite Campus. If the wind chill is sustained at -35 degrees F or a Wind Chill Warning is issued, most school districts will close, although this is a local decision.
While the district has the responsibility to close school due to weather, no decision of theirs overrides the judgment of parents. If parents have a sincere concern for the safety of their children, they can certainly keep them home or remove them from school early.

Residents who wish to receive a quantity of sand for placement on sidewalks during the winter months are asked to have sturdy containers at the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on that Monday. City officials stress that cardboard boxes are not considered sturdy containers.
The City of Whitewater Department of Public Works will collect Christmas trees the week of January 15th. Please place your tree on the terrace by 7:00 a.m., Monday, January 15.
If you want your tree picked up before or after that week, you must call the Streets Department at 473-0560 before 5 a.m. on Tuesday that week to schedule a brush pick up.
Trees that have been flocked or contain wire will not be collected. Please place these trees for collection by John’s Disposal on the second Thursday of the month, your bulk pick up day.
