Generac recently donated nine engines to the Technology and Engineering Program at Whitewater High School. These engines will be implemented in various classes and will primarily be used in a new Motorcycle, Marine, and Outdoor Power Products course. Whitewater High School would like to thank Generac for their generous donation.
Joyce was born on November 3, 1937, in the Town of Cold Spring in Jefferson County to L.J. and Jean (Rueth) Herde. Joyce enjoyed playing the piano at retirement homes including Fairhaven in Whitewater. In the early days, Joyce played her accordion in a dance band in the Whitewater and Jefferson area.
The coaches were very happy with the skill development of the Little Dribblers (ages 4-6) and shooting stars (ages 7-8) over the eight weeks. Players practiced shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, defense and listening skills.

The team is still putting up fast times and getting better each week! The Whippets traveled to Beloit Memorial to compete against a field of mainly Division 1 teams this past Saturday. Coming home with medals was Young Liang with his 1st place finish in the 100 Breaststroke, beating 34 competitors and 2nd place finish in the 200 Breaststroke. Devin Bazeley swam a strong 500 Freestyle and posted the 5th fastest time All Time.
On Saturday the Whippets wrestlers traveled to Mount Horeb to participate in a 16 team tournament and found great success as a team. The team wrestled very well throughout the tournament coming home with 5 runner-ups and 4 bronze medalists. The whippet depth proved to be enough to hold off Edgerton in the final team standings to bring home the team championship. The coaching staff was very happy with the performance of the day as everyone competing finished in the top five of their weight class and many had some big pins along the way.
Saturday the Whitewater JV wrestling team traveled to Elkhorn. The Elkhorn Invitational was made up of 18 tough teams. Most of the teams there were from division one schools. Whitewater traveled with 12 wrestlers to the tournament.
On Friday, December 14th the Whitewater High School JV Gymnastics team competed at a JV Invitational at Elkhorn High School. The three competitors consisted of Freshman Giselle Ramirez, Anna Ejnik and Sophomore Lydia Bols. The Highlight of the gymnastics meet was Lydia Bols placing 6th on vault with a 7.9. The Whitewater High School Gymnastics Team will be back in action on January 17th competing a dual against Jefferson at Jefferson High School. Come on out and support your Whippet athletes!!
She was born July 13, 1937 in Duluth Minnesota to Cyril and Ethel Potter. Her early life was spent in Glenwood Minnesota where she attended Glenwood high school. She graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor Degree in Education. She was married to James E Warren. Following their marriage she was a teacher and later on an administrative assistant at UW Whitewater.
She was a member of the Congregational Church Whitewater. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, quilting, cooking, traveling, cross-country skiing, camping and being with family.
She was born April 24, 1923 in Janesville WI to Roy and Mary (Brummond) Millard. She attended the School of Cosmetology in Madison WI.
Frances married Lance Simes on October 25, 1951. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a beautician and after her marriage was a homemaker.
Frances was a member of First United Methodist Church of Whitewater. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking and formal holiday dinners with family.
The Student Council at Washington Elementary School recently completed the first step of a year-long service project benefiting The Treehouse, the Walworth County child advocacy center located in Elkhorn. Students made fleece blankets to donate for the children visiting the Treehouse. In addition, students sold coffee and hot chocolate at the recent Washington Winter Wonderland event and raised $50. Nicci Erdmann, an employee of the Treehouse, came to Washington to accept the blankets and the money. Another $88 has already been raised for donation through the purchase of “Caring Canes” at Washington’s Winter Sing!
