Downtown Whitewater’s 2018 Parade of Lights

Downtown Whitewater will again host the Parade of Lights on December 7, 2018.

The evening will begin at 4 pm with a holiday market featuring outdoor vendors at the 4 corners of 1st Street and Main Street along with other downtown retailers who are open for holiday shopping and dining. We invite all members of the community to support local small businesses by joining us downtown for holiday shopping or dinner with friends and family on this festive evening.

Children’s activities will feature an opportunity to visit Santa, hosted and sponsored by First Citizens State bank at their downtown location at 207 W Main Street from 4 pm to 6 pm. After visiting Santa don’t forget to join Stories by the Fire also located within the bank. Do you want to build a snowman? Pick up a quick and child-friendly activity at Dales at 155 W Main Street sponsored by the Whitewater Kiwanis Breakfast Club! The fun doesn’t end there, you’ll find more take and make crafts and an in-person craft inside Quiet Hut Sports also sponsored by the Whitewater Kiwanis Breakfast Club.

All your downtown exploring will leave you wanting to warm up because this is Wisconsin, so make sure to stop by our s’mores firepit right outside the Discover Whitewater offices at 150 W Main Street. We’ll have the Selfie Sleigh available again this year as well as Christmas music to sing along while you await the parade’s arrival! And don’t miss some of the downtown decorations generously sponsored by Premier Bank. The parade route will run from Whitton Street along Main Street downtown to the intersection of Main Street and Whitewater Street where it rounds the corner and ends at Cravath Lakefront Park.

“There’s just something magical about being downtown on a cold winter evening watching a holiday parade filled with lights, surrounded by friends, family, and community members. It reminds me of just how special Whitewater is,” Katie Nass a member of the executive board and volunteer for Downtown Whitewater, Inc says. Pile on the layers if the forecast looks chilly and join us in celebrating the holiday season with this year’s parade theme “A Very Merry Christmas”! We can’t wait to spend an evening with you! Don’t miss the Chili dinner and cookie decorating at Living Word Fellowship that is free and open to all at 7 pm.

Downtown Whitewater, Inc. is a volunteer-driven organization spearheading a community effort to re-energize and enhance our historic downtown. We are community advocates and volunteers who share a passion for Whitewater. We bring people from all walks of life together to celebrate Whitewater’s history and traditions, to care for our downtown neighborhood, and to inspire confidence and investments that are flowing toward an economically vibrant, engaging and exciting place in the heart of Whitewater – a place we love, a place we’re proud to call home, and a place where future generations can grow and take pride in calling their own.
