UW-W Baseball Hosts NCAA Super Regional May 27-28

The No. 9 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team will host No. 12 UW-Stevens Point in the NCAA Super Regional this Friday-Saturday, May 27-28, at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium in Whitewater.

First pitch of the best-of-three series is set for Friday at 12 p.m. The second game is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. and the third game, if necessary, will take place 45 minutes following the conclusion of Game 2.

Tickets for the event will cost $10 per day for adults and $8 for seniors, students and youth above the age of 2 and can be purchased at the entry gate.

The winner of the Super Regional will advance to the NCAA Division III Championship, which is set for June 3-8 at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Warhawks (36-9 overall) won the NCAA Whitewater Regional over the weekend, defeating No. 20 Aurora 12-8 in the tournament final. UW-W earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship with a 25-3 record.

UW-Stevens Point (38-8) claimed the NCAA Stevens Point Regional title with a 21-8 victory against No. 18 North Central (Ill.) in the final. The Pointers claimed an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as the 2022 WIAC Tournament champion.

UW-Whitewater and UW-Stevens Point met four times during the season. The Pointers took the opener by a 4-0 score on March 28 at Miller Stadium before the Warhawks took the next three meetings by scores of 2-0 on March 28 and 4-1 and 9-1 in back-to-back games on April 26 in Whitewater.

The two teams were ranked first and second in the final NCAA Region IX Ranking of the 2022 season.
