The League of Women Voters Announces Recipient of the 2018 Making Democracy Work Award

The League of Women Voters, Whitewater Area celebrates community leaders: individuals who have envisioned a way to improve the community and have mobilized others to work with them to effect change that has benefited the broader community.

The recipient of the 2018 Making Democracy Work Award is Miguel Aranda. A life-long resident of Whitewater, he is a Financial Specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Currently serving on the city Community Involvement Commission, he has been instrumental in engaging the population in Whitewater in such projects as voter registration and turn-out. He will be recognized for his efforts in engaging the LatinX population in the Whitewater community both on and off campus along with many other accomplishments.

The award will be presented to Aranda at the Holiday Dinner held at 841 Brew House in Whitewater on December 9. Although the deadline for reservations has past, anyone who would like to witness the event should be there by 7:00 p.m.
