Ski Show Team Announces 2022 Ski Season

Editor’s Note: The following was provided by the Southern Wakes United Water Ski Show Team.

The 2022 ski season is fast approaching and the Southern Wakes United Water Ski Show Team (SWU) is ready to entertain YOU!

In case you missed us, last year was a great year for SWU. In addition to competing at the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Regional Tournament, we performed five shows at the Lauderdale Landing, six at Scenic Ridge Campground on Whitewater Lake, two on Delavan Lake and two on Elkhorn Lake in Babe Mann Park.

The full 2022 show schedule can be found on our website, www.SouthernWakesUnited.com.

We are always looking for more talent to join the team.  You do NOT need to know how to ski or own your own equipment.  You don’t even have to ski to join our team as there are many things we need team members for. If you are interested in being a spotter in the boat, a boat driver, doing sound for the shows, designing or sewing costumes etc… WE WANT YOU!!!!!   If you are interested in joining SWU, contact us at membership@southernwakesunited.com. Members on our team range in age from 6-75, so grab the family and join us for some fun in the sun!  Our first on-the-water ski practice is May 19, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Babe Mann Lake in Elkhorn.

About Us

In 2018 the Lauderdale Lakes Aqua Skiers and Whitewater Lakes Sports Club (Minneiska Water Ski Show Team) merged, forming the ONLY water ski show team in Walworth County!

Over forty years, the teams formed a unique rivalry which included competition, shared skiers and great friendships, but both remained too small to compete against the larger teams in the state. After a failed merger attempt in the 1990s, the teams remained separate and continued to struggle.

Once again in 2018, the two boards decided to explore the option, knowing that a merger would allow them to share resources and create the best learning environment. This time the merger was a success!

SWU is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to give its members an opportunity to work together to build confidence, learn new skills and promote leadership development, water safety education and sportsmanship. We are financially supported by SWU Magazine advertising sales, donations, team fundraisers and private performances.
