Heritage Country Meats, a new retail meat market and custom processor between Fort Atkinson and Jefferson, opened in late January. The State Highway 89 property last owned by SSDA Beef LLC had sat vacant three to four years. Prior to that, it was the longtime home to the very popular Schroedl’s Country Market. In early 2021, a group of investors with local ties purchased the property to take up where Schroedl’s left off.

In addition to fresh meat, the market offers cheese, spices, beverages and many other products sourced locally, including Whitewater products Kettle Moraine Honey and Wood Street granola.
