#Flashback Friday with the Historical Society: WHS Marching Band in the ’30s

In honor of the Whippets graduating this weekend, this week’s #FlashbackFriday features some Whitewater High School students of the past!

Shown here is a photo of the Whitewater High School Marching Band. It was most likely taken in the late 1930s. According to the Whitewater Register, the high school marching band was established as a separate group in 1935. It was comprised of members of both the “first” and “second” concert bands. This was due to so many of the concert band members also being members of the school football squad, making it difficult for them to participate in both groups on Friday nights.

Join us next week for more from the Whitewater Historical Society collections!
