WMS 8th Grade Class Leaders Participate in So. Lakes Advanced Learner Leadership Conference

Selected Whitewater Middle School 8th grade class leaders participated in the annual Southern Lakes Advanced Learner Network Middle School Leadership Conference on Thursday, October 17.  It was held on the UW-Whitewater campus.

This year’s participants included Ivan Gonzalez, Michael Kane Obregon, Andrea Alcala, and Leah Newmann.

The day began with a presentation by the international animated illusionist, Arden James.  Following the presentation, Arden conducted an interactive workshop on communication. Students learned about the close relationship between communication and leadership with a focus on verbal and nonverbal communication, body language, and reading facial expressions.  At the end of the day, students left excited about trying out their new knowledge and skills.
