Whitewater High School baseball team improved to 2-0 and a season sweep of Brodhead with a 5-0 (box score) victory on Thursday evening. Bryce Parrish led the way on the mound with a complete game shutout allowing just 4 hits with 14 strikeouts, no walks and only allowed one Brodhead player to reach 2nd base. Cooper Pease paced the offense going 3×4 with an RBI, followed by Dylan Pease 2×3, and Bryce Parrish 2×3 with a double and an RBI. The offense plated one run in the 2nd after Jordan Curtis led off the inning with a walk, followed by a Cooper Pease single, a wild pitch moved both of them into scoring position and Danny Harnack grounded out to move the runners and give the Whippets a 1-0 lead. The Whippets would score three more in the 3rd inning after James Dedrick was hit by a pitch, Dylan Pease laid down a perfect bunt single and Bryce Parrish lined a shot off the wall in left center to make it 2-0. Dylan would score on a wild pitch and Jordan Curtis grounded out to score Parrish for a 4-0 lead. Whitewater would add one more run in the 7th when Jordan Curtis tripled to right and Cooper Pease lined a base hit to make it 5-0. Whitewater banged out 8 hits but left 9 on base and had several chances to break the game open. Coach Pease said as along as we throw strikes and play clean on defense which we did tonight (no errors) we are going to have a lot of chances to win games. Whitewater has a big week coming up with 5 games and with the first being Tuesday at Clinton High School with first pitch at 4:45.
