Whitewater Historical Society to Present “Bewitching Tale”

You may have heard of the “witches of Whitewater,” now hear a real story about the witches of Salem, Massachusetts. On Sunday, October 25, at 1:00 p.m. the Whitewater Historical Society is presenting a “bewitching tale” by Janesville historian and preservationist Tom Skinner, who is a descendent of an accused Salem witch. Skinner will present the Salem witchcraft story as seen through his ancestor’s eyes.

This presentation will be held at the Cravath Lakefront Community Center, 341 S. Fremont Street (go under the arch off of Whitewater Street) in Whitewater. The program is free to the public and everyone is welcome.

Tom Skinner and his wife live in a mid-19th century stone house in Janesville that they have preserved and Skinner is a historian who offers presentations about the Pilgrims of Massachusetts, the Lewis and Clark expedition and other historic events. Skinner’s program is the first event of the 2026-2027 historical society season.
