Celebrating the month of May as National Archeological Month, the City of Whitewater Landmarks Commission will host docent-led tours of the Whitewater Effigy Mounds Preserve on Saturday, May 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. The tours will be provided on a “drop-in basis”. The public is invited to this educational event which includes a brief history of the area as well as more in-depth information on the 13 mounds located at the preserve.

This event is suitable for families and offers the opportunity to hike, view the lovely wildflowers in bloom and experience first hand one of the few remaining oak savannas in the county.

Kori Oberle, the retired Director of the Hoard Historical Museum and current President of the Friends of the Effigy Mounds Preserve will be on hand to answer questions.

Rain date will be Sunday, May 19, from 1 – 3 pm.
