Jefferson County to Host Household Electronics and Appliance Recycling Event on October 17

The Jefferson County Solid Waste Program will hold a household Electronics and Appliance Recycling Event on Saturday, October 17 from 8-11 a.m. at the Jefferson County Fair Park (503 N. Jackson Ave, Jefferson). It is open to all Jefferson County households. [Editor’s note: Previously The Whitewater Banner has been advised that City of Whitewater residents are able to participate in such events regardless of whether they are in Jefferson or Walworth counties.]

You do not need to register for the event! Come to Fair Park between 8-11 a.m.; we will assist customers on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $10 per vehicle (cash only). Note: Depending on turnout, gates may close earlier than 11 a.m.

Acceptable electronics:

Computers (desktop, laptop, and notebook); computer accessories (keyboards, mice, hard drives, scanners, speakers, and other devices); monitors; TVs; DVD players; VCRs; fax machines; stereos; calculators; iPads; camcorders; shredders; tablets; cameras; copiers; game consoles; e-readers; electric motors; modems; printers (desktops, 3-D, and combos); handheld electronics; cellphones; adding machines; scanners.

Acceptable appliances:

Refrigerators (mini and regular); freezers (chest and upright); dishwashers; air conditioners; water heaters; dehumidifiers; microwaves; vacuums; toasters; solar panels; inverters.

If possible, please remove all batteries prior to recycling. Please remove all food/food debris from appliances.

Items not accepted:

Smoke detectors; fluorescent bulbs; batteries; fans; coffee makers; blenders; hazardous waste; latex paint; unused prescription drugs
