#FlashbackFriday with the Historical Society: Post Card Depicting Beautiful Whitewater Circa 1900

It’s time once again for #FlashbackFriday with the Whitewater Historical Society. In the last of our looks at Main Street through vintage post cards, we present one of the most frequently seen cards in the society’s collection.

This colorized view, probably taken around 1900-1910, is a popular view seen in both color and black and white cards. And it’s no wonder, because it highlights two of the best late Victorian Queen Anne style houses along the street. On the corner with Prairie Street is the Engebretsen-Dorr House, built in 1895 and now used as the Victoria-on-Main bed and breakfast. Next door is a house built around the same time by a local doctor. This card shows the beauty and prosperity of Whitewater in the late 19th century.

Join us next week for more from the Whitewater Historical Society.
