Attempted Child Abduction Reported

Editor’s note: The following press release was received from the Whitewater Police Department.

On Thursday, July 20th, 2023, at 3:51 p.m., the Whitewater Police Department received a report of an attempted child abduction. At approximately 3:45 p.m. on the same date, a male approached a minor female at the intersection of W. Center St. and S. Cottage St., in the City of Whitewater. The male exited his vehicle, described as a black four-door sedan with tinted windows. The male approached the minor female and told her to get into the car. The male grabbed the minor female’s right arm, attempting to pull her towards his vehicle. The female bit the male’s forearm and fled the area on foot. The male entered back into his vehicle and sped away at a high rate of speed, last observed traveling eastbound on W. Center Street. The male is described as being around 30 – 40 years of age, spoke English, having “tan” skin, shoulder length dark brown hair, and a long dark brown and gray beard. The male is further described as wearing a green in color sleeveless shirt and having a black and gray “rose” tattoo between his shoulder and lower neck area.

Whitewater Police are continuing to investigate and are asking the public for assistance in locating any witnesses to the incident, or anyone with external video/pictures in or around the neighborhood/city displaying a potential suspect or suspect vehicle.
