Whitewater Arts Alliance to Host Quilt Show in February

A quilt show will be featured at the Whitewater Arts Alliance’s Cultural Arts Center, 402 West Main Street, from February 1 to 24, Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.  There is a free reception, open to the public, on Sunday, February 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the CAC.

February will find one of the Whitewater Arts Alliance’s most popular exhibits returning to the Cultural Arts Center.  “The Art of the Quilt” will feature the work of several talented area quilters.  As of this date, the WAA has commitments to share their creativity from Mary Althaus (Whitewater), Chris Kirsch (Watertown), Rita Oehrke (Palmyra), Lori Schloesser (Watertown), Michele Smith (Whitewater), and Sue Theune (Whitewater).

Chair of the show, Linda Long, said, “These quilters will bring their own special styles and flair to the gallery.  From traditional patterns and hues to graphic designs and bold colors, there will be something for everyone. This show will be an exceptional treat!  Don’t miss it!”

The exhibit will open on Friday, Feb. 1 and close on Sunday, Feb. 24. The gallery is open Thursday-Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. while the quilts are displayed.  There will be a reception on Sunday, Feb. 3 from 1-3 p.m.  The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The Cultural Arts Center is located on 402 West Main Street in the historic White building near the Birge Fountain. Parking is behind the building. An elevator is available for access from the parking lot entrance.
