Whitewater Police Department to Participate in National Coffee with a Cop Day, Wed., 10/2

The Whitewater Police Department is excited to participate in the 4th Annual National Coffee with a Cop Day from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019. This will be the second time Whitewater has braced the event.

Coffee with a Cop Day is an opportunity many law enforcement agencies participate in to open up lines of communication and establish relationships within their communities. This community outreach program was created to allow citizens and officers to have conversations in a calm and comfortable setting to discuss anything from safety and concerns to sports and pets. The goal is good conversation and good company.

The Whitewater Police Department has partnered with two great local establishments, Jessica’s Family Restaurant and The SweetSpot Café. An officer or two will be stationed at both locations and all citizens are welcome and encouraged to pull up a chair, order some breakfast or coffee and enjoy some conversation.

“The Whitewater Police Department has been continuing their efforts to be involved within the community in more ways than just an officer protecting the city,” said PR Manager Kristin Mickelson. “The men and women of the WPD are just that, men and women. They have families and friends, exciting life events, pets, have bad days and good days. They are people just like everyone else and it is great to allow the community to see them in this light, get to know them as people and respect them as officers. We hope efforts of events like Coffee with a Cop and our recent (Ice Cream) Cone with a Cop will help build the connection between law enforcement and the community.”

The Whitewater Police Department is looking forward to this opportunity to build relationships with the community and citizens they serve.
