UW-Whitewater Women’s Basketball Earns NCAA Tournament Bid

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women’s basketball team will compete in the NCAA Division III Championship for the 11th time in the last 12 years and the 18th time in program history this weekend at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.

The Warhawks (18-9 overall) will face Washington-St. Louis in the first round Friday. The Bears (19-6) earned an automatic, or Pool A, bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the University Athletic Association championship.

The winner of Friday’s game will face the winner of the Greenville (Ill.)-George Fox (Ore.) game in Saturday’s second round.

Game times for each round are to be announced.

UW-Whitewater earned a Pool C, or at-large, bid after finishing tied for second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings and placing second in the conference tournament over the weekend.

The Warhawks were seventh in the NCAA Central Region rankings last week.
