Women’s Basketball: No. 14 UW-Whitewater 61, UW-La Crosse 50

The No. 14 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women’s basketball team wrapped up the regular season Saturday afternoon with its eighth straight victory, a 61-50 triumph at UW-La Crosse in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference affair in La Crosse, Wis.

Senior guard Malia Smith tallied 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead UW-Whitewater. Junior forward Olivia Freckmann registered 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals, and junior forward Sarah Schumacher posted 10 points and eight rebounds.

Men’s Basketball: UW-La Crosse 60, UW-Whitewater 55

The University of Wisconsin- Whitewater men’s basketball team fell to UW-La Crosse, 60-55, in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference contest Saturday afternoon.

Senior Jerry Ngobi was honored on Senior Day and recognized prior to tip-off for his contributions to the program over the last four years.

UW-La Crosse (13-12, 5-9 WIAC) shot 22-of-24 from the free-throw line and forced 28 turnovers by the Warhawks (16-9, 6-8) in the match-up.

Senior guard Andre Brown led the Warhawks with 14 points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists.  Junior guard Mitchell Pfeifer added 11 points and 5 assists and junior guard Dalton Menke tallied nine points for the Warhawks.
