WHS Gymnastics Holds Year End Banquet

Whitewater High School Gymnastics wrapped up the 2017-2018 season with a banquet held Thursday, March 8th at Whitewater High School.  The gymnasts did a fantastic job this season and they will continue to do so in future seasons. Thank you to the parents for supporting the girls, organizing pasta parties, and all the other amazing things you do. Also thank you to Mr. Mischka for coming to the gymnastics meets and taking pictures of the girls. Overall it was an amazing season and I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to work with. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Go Whippets!

Whippet Gymnastics Place 5th in Platteville

The Whippets varsity gymnastics team took on eleven other teams at the Lisa Steger Memorial Invitational at Platteville High School this past weekend.

The team started off strong on the vault with junior Autumn Lesar leading the way with a score of 8.1, followed my teammate Katherine Staniszewski with a score of 7.8.  Junior Nicole Tomomitsu had the highest score for the Whippets on the uneven bars with a score of 7.8. Behind Tomomitsu was freshman Mariana Cano with a score of 7.55.  Junior Sierra Brunner led the team on the beam with a season-high of 8.15, followed by Nicole Tomomitsu with a season-high of 8.0. Tomomitsu also had a season-high on the floor exercise to lead the Whippets with a score of 8.575. Autumn Lesar was right behind her with a score of 8.15.

The team placed 5th out of eleven teams with a score of 123.925, earning their highest team score of the season.  The Whippets will be back in action on Friday, February 16 at the conference meet at Waterford High School.

The Whippets competed in a triangular meet on Tuesday evening against Elkhorn and Waterford. Leading the Whippets on the vault in the varsity competition was junior Autumn Lesar with a score of 7.85. Right behind her was teammate Marianna Cano with a score of 7.6. Junior Sierra Brunner led the whippets on the uneven bars with a score of 6.825 followed by teammate Nicole Tomomitsu with a score of 6.75. Lesar also led the team on the balance beam with a score of 7.775. Nicole Tomomitsu led the whippets on the floor exercise with a score of 7.9 followed by teammate Sierra Brunner with a score of 7.4.

In the junior varsity competition, junior Jocelin Beecroft led the Whippets on the vault with a score of 7.55. Beecroft also led the team on the floor exercise with a score of 4.8. Freshman Ella Smith made her Whippet debut on the floor exercise with a score of 4.1. Senior Caitlin Zimdars was the only competitor for the whippets on the junior varsity competition on the balance beam scoring a 4.2.

The team will be back in action on Saturday competing in an invitational at Platteville High School.

Whippet Gymnasts Compete in Elkhorn

On Tuesday, January 30th, the Whippets took on Elkhorn at Elkhorn Area High School. In the Varsity competition, junior Nicole Tomomitsu led the team on the uneven bars swinging her way into a 6th place finish with a score of 7.45. Junior Katherine Staniszewski carried the Whippets on the balance beam with a score of 7.8 leading her to a 6th place finish. Junior Autumn Lesar tumbled her way into a 6th place finish on the floor exercise with a score of 7.875. Lesar also took 4th in the all-around competition with a score of 30.525.

In the Junior Varsity competition, senior Caitlin Zimdars led the team on the floor exercise with a score of 5.5 placing 6th. Zimdars also took 5th on the balance beam with a score of 5.2. Junior Jocelin Beecroft vaulted her way into a 3rd place finish with a score of 5.9. Right behind her placing 4th was teammate Carina Casillas with a score of 5.6.

The Whippets will be back in action on Tuesday, February 6 at Waterford High School in a triangular meet against Waterford and Elkhorn.

The WHS Gymnastics took on Jefferson in a dual meet at home on Monday night.

“Juniors Sydney Tredar and Autumn Lesar led the Varsity team on vault with scores of 8.15 from Lesar and 8.05 from Tredar. Sophomore Carina Casillas scored a 6.3 in the Junior Varsity competition taking home a third place finish. Junior Jocelin Beecroft scored a 7.3 to win the vault in the Junior Varsity competition. Beecroft also placed first for the Whippets on the uneven parallel bars. Leading Whitewater on the uneven bars for the Varsity team was Sydney Tredar with a score of 7.25 earning herself a 4th place finish. Junior Autumn Lesar led the Whippets on the floor exercise with a score of 8.1 placing 4th. Whitewater rounded out the meet with a team score of 114.5. The Whippets are back in action at the Southwestern High School Invitational on Saturday.”
