Seniors Lead Whippets to Victory Over Delavan-Darien

The Whitewater Boys’ Basketball Team celebrated a successful Parents’ Night with a 73-62 victory over Delavan-Darien, Friday, February 20th. Whitewater used excellent shooting (45% from the three-point line and 49% overall) and a harassing defense to hold off the Comets and notch our fourth straight win.

The Whippets took control of the game by building a ten-point lead, 30-20, with five minutes left in the half.  Although Delavan cut it to 38-32 at the half and to 38-35 early in the second half, they could get no closer. Whitewater built the lead back to seven points, 42-35, at the 14-minute mark and maintained a 7 to 12-point lead for the rest of the game.

Whitewater was led by our two seniors, Casey Lyon with 26 points and 11 rebounds and Matt Carollo with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Aaron Garcia chipped in with nine of his 13 points in the first half and Connor Brummeyer helped finish off the Comets with all 7 of his points in the second half.

The Whippets are now 10-12 overall, with two final conference games this week-At East Troy on Monday, February 23rd and at home on Thursday, February 26th for Senior Night against Monroe.  Whitewater will travel to Columbus on Tuesday, March 3rd, to begin tournament play.
