Obituary: Joseph Carl “Joe” Bauer, 79

Joseph Carl “Joe” Bauer, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Marquardt Manor in Watertown, Wisconsin, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 79 years old. He was born in Park Falls, Wisconsin on February 18, 1945 and raised in Hayward, Wisconsin by Leo and Rosemary Long. He enlisted into the Army National Guard out of Hayward, Wisconsin and he graduated from Hayward High School in 1965.

He was not the type of man whom you’d go out to lunch with or go shopping with. He was a very, very skilled carpenter and woodworker, and there was nothing he could not fix or build. He never cut any corners, there’s a right way and a wrong way. He went through his fazes with his “toys.” Always had to have a good truck to haul his tools, he rode a Harley for a bit and snowmobiles. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and making wooden picture frames, which he would donate to the local nursing home and hospital. People who knew him knew how good of a “story teller” he was!

Joe is survived by his daughters, Joyce (Tim) Bristol, and Bobbie Jo Bauer; grandchildren, Nathan Coy (Dalton) and Jason Coy; siblings, Ray Emond (Darla), Mike Duffy (Sue), Delores Peterson and John Topdahl; as well as all the members of the Long family.

A memorial visitation will take place at Nitardy Funeral Home in Whitewater on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 10 AM until 12 PM.

The family would like to give special thank you to Joe’s longtime friend, Mike Kachel, who has been a loyal and faithful friend to Joe over the years.
