Margaret “Maggie” A. Gies, age 82, of Whitewater (formerly of Palmyra) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 2, 2018.

Maggie was born on October 11, 1935, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Richard and Katherine (Dwenser) Vogelsberg. On November 8, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Woodstock, IL, she married James “Jack” J. Gies.

Maggie was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, and she enjoyed bowling and euchre.  She was happiest spending time with her family.

Beloved wife of James “Jack” of Whitewater, WI, dear mother of Kathleen (Greg) Werth of West Suffield, CT, Eric Gies of Whitewater, WI, and Laurie (Phil Hack) Forseth of Hebron, WI.  Cherished grandmother of Angela (Nate) Hack of Fort Atkinson, WI, Paul Werth of St. Louis, MO, and Taylor Werth of Dover, DE.  Margaret is further survived by her cousin Richard Shours of Oxford, WI, other relatives, and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her son Michael and her siblings.

At Maggie’s request, there will be no services.  Instead, she would want you to celebrate times you shared and celebrate your own life, family, and friends.  The family has designated Rainbow Hospice Care www.rainbowhospicecare.org for memorial contributions.
