Lyle H. Bogard, age 63, of Whitewater, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home in Whitewater.

He was born July 13, 1954, in Woodstock, IL, the son of the late Edward and Beatrice Bogard. He grew up on the family farm and developed a love for raising hogs and cattle…a love that lasted his entire life. Lyle worked on various farms throughout the area. Lyle was the owner and operator of Bogard’s Hereford Hogs and Beef. Lyle felt strongly about family gatherings and was instrumental in helping plan many family get-togethers. He loved to see the joy on the faces of those that attended the gatherings. He frequently cooked whole hogs as the main course, to the delight of all. Lyle was very active in the 4-H, and always encouraged children of family and friends to show animals at county fairs. He regularly attended many county fairs, providing direction and support to those showing their animals at the shows. Lyle also felt committed to community activities that could be enjoyed by families. He frequently umpired community-based softball games in several communities.

Lyle is survived by his three children: Timothy (Dana) Bogard of Italy, Edward Bogard of Lake Geneva, and Kimberly (Cody) Pillman of Linn; three grandchildren: Kelby Bogard of Italy, Ameila and Claire Pillman of Linn, and seven siblings: Edward Bogard of Burlington, Arlene Hoffman of Delavan, Karen Crotteau of Eau Claire, Wayne Bogard of Springfield, Jerry Bogard of Thorp, Robert Bogard of Montello, and Kathleen Wrzesinski of Walworth. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 730 N. Wisconsin St. Elkhorn, WI. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Laura Fladten.
