Ida Helen (Erickson) Haney, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Glenwood Memory Care in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Ida, who was born in the town of Clearbrook, Minnesota, on September 29, 1931, was the eleventh of twelve children born to Emil and Inga A. (Haugen) Erickson. She married Merwyn Dale Haney on July 15, 1950, in Crystal Lake, Illinois. For several years, they lived in various locations in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin until settling in the Palmyra, Wisconsin area in 1971.

Ida was a wonderful homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She was a hospitable hostess and made sure each guest felt special by preparing foods which she knew they enjoyed. Ida loved her Lord and reading her Bible, and spent years teaching both her Sunday school class and her grandchildren about the Lord.

Ida is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Inga Erickson; her spouse of 66 years, Merwyn Haney; a grandson, Seth Krause; six brothers, Clarence Erickson; Edvin Erickson; Elmer Erickson; Leonard Erickson; Melvin Erickson; and Tommy Erickson; one sister, Myrtle Eastwood; three sisters-in-law, Anna (Edvin) Erickson; Anna (Elmer) Erickson; Mavis Erickson; Pearl Erickson; and three brothers-in-law, Roy Dukek, Oliver Eastwood, and Harold Green.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Larry) Krause of Viroqua, WI; Karen (Ray) Blazer of Harvard, IL; Debbie (David) Houtsinger of Delavan, WI; Scott (Mary Beth) Haney of Whitewater, WI; and Kim (John) Weiss of Whitewater, WI; two sisters, Edna Dukek of Bagley, MN; Irene Green of Fosston, MN;  six brothers, Ernest Erickson of Clearbrook, MN; Benny Erickson of Leonard, MN;  19 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson, Wisconsin, and the wonderful staff of Glenwood at Mulberry for their compassionate care and concern during Ida’s last days.

A celebration of her life will be held at Kettle Moraine Baptist Church, 505 S Wisconsin Street, Whitewater, WI, on Saturday, September 22nd, at noon with a meal following the service.
