Rock River Free Clinic Celebrates 15 Years with Ice Cream Sundae Social

In the spring of 2003, the doors to the Rock River Free Clinic (RRFC) opened for the first time.  It was a 100 percent volunteer effort and was open one evening each week for 3 hours.  Today, through the support of Fort Healthcare, Jefferson County, United Way of Jefferson and North Walworth Counties, Tomorrow’s Hope and numerous generous individuals and service organizations, the RRFC is now a full-time operation seeing patients every weekday.  During the past 15 years, the RRFC has provided almost 30,000 medical office visits, helping countless members of our community.

In order to celebrate this important milestone, the RRFC Board of Directors invites all community members to a “make your own ice-cream sundae” event on Thursday, August 23 from noon – 2:30 pm at the Clinic (1541 Annex Road in Jefferson).  There will be live music by local musician, Bill Hand, and a number of door prizes including a grand prize of a catered meal for up to 6 people.  Please plan to attend and spread the word to your family, friends, and co-workers.

“The quality of life in our community is most definitely improved because we are able to help our friends, families, and neighbors without health insurance get the medical care they need”, shares Kristin Wallace, Executive Director of the RRFC.  “The RRFC has filled an important gap in our healthcare delivery system for the past 15 years and this is reason to celebrate!”

The RRFC is a primary care clinic that operates out of the Jefferson County Health Department facility Monday through Friday.  Clinic services are free of charge for clients who live in Jefferson County, Whitewater, and Cambridge and who do not have health insurance.  If you have any questions about the RRFC or would like additional information, please contact Wallace at RRFCDirector@jeffersoncountywi.gov or call the clinic at (920) 674-7442.
