The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women’s soccer team won its third consecutive game with a 2-0 win over Luther College Wednesday evening at Fiskum Field.

Allie Prigge (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) tallied the first, and what would be the game-winning, goal of the contest in the 27th minute off of a beautiful cross from Megan Howard (Lakeland, Minn./Stillwater Area). Howard let a ball up the sideline travel all the way to the end line near the left corner post. Timing it perfectly, Howard struck a long cross with her left boot that cut across goal toward the back post. The Norse keeper tried to punch it out, but the ball sailed over her hand leaving Prigge a wide-open goal. She capitalized with a header inside the right post for a 1-0 lead.

That score held until the 74th minute when Howard came up clutch again. Bolting into the box on a cross in, Howard was taken down by a defender and a foul called as the referee signaled for a penalty kick. Jordyn Czarapata (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) stepped to the penalty spot, focused in and bested the Luther keeper to the bottom left to give the Warhawks a 2-0 lead.

UW-W keeper Jude Dobrinska (Milwaukee, Wis./Ronald Reagan College Prep) had another solid outing in goal registering six saves to record the shutout.

The Warhawks celebrated their five seniors at halftime of the contest including Kari Webber (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling)Sarah Clancy (Palatine, Ill./Palatine)Jessica Smeltzer (Schaumburg, Ill./James B. Conant)Megan Kurtz (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola Academy) and Ally Bosetti (Beloit, Wis./Beloit Turner).
