WHS Choirs host Community Baby Shower

This quarter, the WHS Choirs have been singing about and thinking about the idea of community. We are thinking about the community that is our choir, our school, our city, our state, our nation, and our world. The songs we are singing at our Fall Concert are songs we sing as a community or are about the communities in which we live.

The Choir students met in early October and decided they would like to help the Whitewater community. In August,  the WHS Choir Director, Mrs. Tordera, visited Whitewater’s Community Space. It is a place where people can drop off donations and where others can find what they need. When asked what their highest need item was, the volunteers said “Diapers and wipes!”  The Choir students were told about The Community Space and what they needed. They agreed to help and said they would bring in baby items and bring them to The Community Space as one large donation. Hence, the WHS Choirs Community Baby Shower was born!

We will accept baby items as well as non-perishable food donations and feminine hygiene products. The students took it one step further and said they would like to have a collection at our Fall Concert on Wednesday, October 23rd. (They are a fantastic group of young people!) We will have boxes ready for donations at the concert. The concert will be held at Whitewater High School in the auditorium at 7:00 pm.

WHS Students and Staff as well as Whitewater community members are welcome to donate to this project as well. Donations can be dropped off at the WHS office or at the WHS Choir room.

Thank you in advance for any support you can give to this project.  We truly live in a special place!
