Donald W. Schmidt born October 2nd, 1929 to Oscar and Viola Schmidt(Lentz).

He married Irene L. Sherman on November 20th 1954 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Whitewater.

He worked hauling milk in the Whitewater area for Hugh Miller.  He then worked as a textile worker for Borg Fabric in Jefferson for 33 years before retiring.

Farming was his hobby, helping his father, then his son and grandsons on the family farm.  He then moved to the Athens area to be near his family on the farm there.

He is survived by his son Steven (Barbara) and grandsons Joshua (Gwendolen) and Dustin.  He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, daughter Janet, and brother Roger.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church,116 S Church St, Whitewater, WI 53190. There will be a lunch right after the service, with a burial to follow at Cold Spring Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Nitardy Funeral Home, 550 N Newcomb St., Whitewater, WI 53190 and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

The Nitardy Funeral Home is assisting the family.
