A balmy spring day greeted the Whitewater Whippet Golf Team at the Geneva National Invitational on Monday. The 18-hole event, hosted by Lake Geneva Badger High School, teed off at 9 a.m. from the Gary Player Signature Course. Paired with fellow Rock Valley Conference schools, Clinton and East Troy, the Whippets had a team score of 480.

Sophomore Wesley Abramson continued to lead the Whippets with a score of 109. Abramson had a tough front nine (59) but scored a 50 on the back nine. Junior Maddie Arnett posted a 113. She also was able to score lower on the back nine, firing a 58 on the front and 55 on the back. The freshman trio of Camden Frye, Dane Hillmer, and Jaden Condon rounded out the scoring for the Whippets with rounds of 135, 135, and 123. Monday’s event marked the first of a busy week of golf for the Whippets.

Next up is a Rock Valley Conference meet hosted by East Troy at Alpine Valley Golf Course. Following the RVC match on Thursday, the Whippets will compete in the Evansville Invite on Friday morning.
