Whitewater Volleyball hosted Delavan-Darien in a conference match-up on Tuesday evening, October 1, in their Play for Trey Event — a night to remember Treyton Kilar, a young boy whose life was taken far too soon, and also to raise awareness around the importance of responsible decision-making.
Both teams battled all night; however, Delavan ultimately took the match 3-2. Whitewater came out ready to play in set 1 and took charge, defeating Delavan 25-21. Following set one, Delavan relaxed into play and took sets 2 and 3 (25-17, 25-12). Whitewater was not ready to call it a night yet and pushed the match to 5 by winning the fourth 25-23. After a slow start in set 5 (Whitewater was down 1-7 and 5-11) Whitewater battled back to tie the set at 11 – 11 and then 13-13. A few unlucky balls gave Delavan the advantage and they took the set (15-13) and the match.
Whitewater stat leaders for the evening were:
- Kills – Calli Grosinski (senior) 15; Falyn Krahn (senior) 9
- Assists – Calli Grosinski (senior) 19
- Digs – Ella Spear (senior) 26, Ava Alvarado (senior) 19
- Aces – Ella Spear (senior) 4, Ava Alvarado (senior) 2
Whitewater heads to Monroe on Thursday night for another conference match-up.
