The No. 5 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team forced four turnovers and took advantage of a pair of big plays on special teams Saturday during a 26-12 victory over No. 11 Bethel (Minn.) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championship at Perkins Stadium.
The Warhawks (13-0 overall) will face No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) next Saturday, Dec. 8, at a time and location to be determined in their 11th appearance in the national semifinals.
For the third consecutive game, junior running back Ronny Ponick (Stanley, Wis./Stanley-Boyd) and sophomore running back Alex Peete (Ringwood, Ill./Johnsburg) each rushed for 100 or more yards. Ponick carried 21 times for 117 yards and two touchdowns, while Peete posted 24 carries for 123 yards and one score.

The No. 5 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team posted more than 500 yards of total offense for the fourth time in its last five games and forced three turnovers Saturday in a 54-21 triumph over St. Norbert in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship at Perkins Stadium.
The Warhawks (12-0 overall), who own the second-longest active winning streak in Division III at 18 games, advance to next Saturday’s quarterfinal, where they’ll face No. 11 Bethel (Minn.). The Royals advanced past No. 9 North Central (Ill.) with a 27-24 victory.
Next Saturday’s game time and location will be announced Sunday. Next Saturday’s game against Bethel is the first-ever meeting between the Royals and Warhawks.
