Whitewater Toppers 12U Take Runner-Up

July 16, 2018

By John J. Schimming

This past weekend the Quad County League had their 12U softball tournament in East Troy. The Whitewater Toppers team closed out the season in fashion taking second place in the silver bracket. The girls won their first two games of the tournament 16-8 and 12-7 on Saturday. The team came back on Sunday morning to take on East Troy for the championship game, however, had to settle for second place.

The coaching staff was very happy with the girls’ performance, especially during the second half of the season. The girls started the season 0-7 however the staff continued to see improvement and just told the girls they were getting better and the wins will come. This came true as the team finished the season 7-2 to close out the season with an overall record of 7-9. The girls learned great fundamental softball throughout the year to help them prepare for upcoming years.

Coach Schimming would like to thank the girls and parents for a great year. It was a very enjoyable time working with the girls. Thank you also to Jim Gosh and Josh Kubicz with their coaching expertise this year. It was great working with these two gentlemen as well.
