It’s time once again for #FlashbackFriday with the Whitewater Historical Society. August is the last chance for vacations before fall, so this month we will be looking at historic post cards people might have sent from Whitewater. Our first is from c.1920 and shows some prominent city sites. To date it, we noticed that it shows the old Commercial Bank on Main Street, built 1914 and the “new” Hamilton Gym on the Normal School campus, built 1916. Also, it shows the “Big Brick,” the old high school, before the 1927 high school was built. These cards were meant to “boost” the community, so the most up-to-date views would be used. So, a date of c.1920 would probably be pretty accurate.
Join us next week for more from the Whitewater Historical Society.
