October 27 at 1:00 pm in Barnett Theatre before the cast and crew take it on tour for a week is Devon’s Hurt, by Laurie Brooks and directed by Kymberly Mellen, the play shares a serious message about dealing with bullying, feelings, resolving conflicts and becoming a friend. Eight-year-old Devon is having a terrible day. Problems with his Mom, a teacher, a fight at school and worst of all a fight with his best friend. Devon’s feeling sorry for himself when The Hurt bursts out of his closet as a little fellow who won’t be ignored or pushed aside until Devon understands the nature of feelings. This is a fun show with a great message for young people. “Delightful.” – Nashville Children’s Theatre

February 26 and March 1 at 7:30 pm, and March 2 at 2:00 pm in Barnett Theatre – the musical Triumph of Love by James Magruder, lyrics by Susan Birkenhead and music by Jeffrey Stock, directed by Bruce Cohen and music direction by Robert Gehrenbeck. Triumph of Love focuses on two dueling households laying claim to the throne; Prince Agis vows to kill Princess Leonide so his family can reign with intellect over the realm. Leonide hopelessly falls for Agis and seeks entry into their private retreat disguised as a man. While only some are fooled by her disguise, all fall in love with her winsome spirit, as a hilariously messy path to love ensues. Join us for a rollicking musical ride on a difficult path to love, filled with deception, disguise, and confused relationships. “Bright. . . campy, irreverent wit.” – Variety

This year, the dance program is proud to host guest choreographers, Alfonso Cervera and Alessandra Williams as part of the Inclusive Excellence Fellows program, who will create exciting works for DanceScapes‘19. Their dances will bring inspiring vitality to this seasons’ performance.
