The Whitewater Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce that we will be overseeing the 2026 Whitewater 4th of July Parade, and we would love to invite you to participate!

The City would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Whitewater Lions Club for their many years of service and dedication in organizing the parade and helping make this event a highlight of the summer season.

The parade will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM. Blizzard Warning Effective Until 4 p.m. Monday [Updated]

Updated 3/15/26 @ 10:30 p.m. to add the above image.

At 7:21 p.m. on Sunday the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan Weather Forecast Office [NWS] issued a Blizzard Warning effective until 4 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026. This warning is effective for all of southern Wisconsin.

The NWS warning includes the following statements: “After a brief break in precipitation, expecting heavy snow at rates to 1″/hr at times to work from west to east tonight. Northerly winds of 40 to 45 MPH combined with high snow rates will lead to blizzard conditions with visibilities less than 1/4 mile. Snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches expected.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions are expected to impact the Monday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel extremely dangerous.”

Walworth Co. Finally Joins Jefferson Co. with Winter Storm Warning Until 4 p.m. Monday

As of 3 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan Weather Forecast Office extended the Winter Storm Warning in our area from Jefferson and Rock Counties into Walworth County. The estimated snow total for the Whitewater area is 3-6″. The snow is initially anticipated to be heavy and wet, eventually transitioning into drier, light snow. Wind gusts will be picking up overnight and into Monday morning, causing potential reduced visibility.

Students Advocate for Youth Apprenticeship Program at State Capitol

On Wednesday, March 11, two of our Youth Apprenticeship [YA] students had the privilege of attending the 11th Annual YA Day at the Capitol — and what an incredible experience it was!

Our students had the opportunity to meet with representatives and senators to advocate for continued support of the Youth Apprenticeship program. Two Whitewater High School students shared their journeys and the impact this program has had on their lives. One is currently a CNA at Mercyhealth, and the other is working as a Teacher’s Aide at Lincoln Elementary School.

This event was a wonderful opportunity for students to build their social capital, share their stories, and advocate for a program that is making a real difference. Along the way, they also had the chance to meet Governor Tony Evers and speak with State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly!

A huge thank you to Mike Rick, CTE Coordinator for WUSD, Tom Martin at CESA 3, and Katie Graf at Gateway Technical College for making this opportunity possible. We also appreciate Representative Tip McGuire, the staff of Senator Van Wanggaard, and Representative Angelina Cruz for taking time out of their busy schedules to meet with our students. Special thanks to Dr. Jill Underly for chatting with our students and taking a photo.

Seeing our students shine like this is a reminder of the incredible things youth can achieve when given meaningful opportunities.

Jersey Mike’s 16th Annual “Month of Giving” Celebrates Special Olympics Athletes Nationwide

The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games is joining forces with 49 Jersey Mike’s Subs locations throughout Wisconsin for the 16th Annual March “Month of Giving” campaign. During the month of March, Jersey Mike’s customers can round up their purchase to the nearest dollar or donate when placing their order to help 56 local Team Wisconsin athletes and the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Whitewater’s Jersey Mike’s is participating.

This year, the games will be held June 20-26, in locations across Minnesota’s Twin Cities, with the University of Minnesota as the official host venue. Nearly 3,000 national athletes will compete in 16 sports. Team Wisconsin will participate in basketball, bocce, bowling, cornhole, golf, powerlifting, swimming, track & field, and volleyball.

Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving campaign culminates with “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 25, when local Jersey Mike’s restaurants will give 100 percent of the day’s sales–not just profit–to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games and the local state programs attending the USA Games. On Day of Giving every single dollar that comes in nationwide, whether in-store, online, or through the app, will go to the cause. Day of Giving is Jersey Mike’s busiest day of the year, when some crews arrive as early as 4 a.m.

The Month of Giving traditionally supports more than 200 local charities nationwide. For the second time in the 16-year history of Month of Giving, Jersey Mike’s owners and operators throughout the country will support this single, important cause dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID), a mission that transcends the boundaries of sport to address discrimination in all its forms.

Jersey Mike’s hopes to exceed last year’s record-breaking national fundraising total of $30 million. Since Month of Giving began in 2011, Jersey Mike’s has raised more than $143 million for local charities. For a list of restaurants in your area, please visit the Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving page on the Special Olympics Wisconsin website.

Special Olympics Wisconsin, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported almost entirely through corporate funding and individual gifts. The national organization was created in 1968 by the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation for the benefit of persons with intellectual disabilities.
