15th Annual Wisconsin Flute Festival

The 15th annual festival on Saturday March 10, 2018, at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.  The Wisconsin Flute Festival brings together flutists and music lovers of all ages from Wisconsin, the greater Midwest, and states across the country, for a fun and educational day celebrating everything flute. The year’s events include workshops, performances, junior, youth and collegiate competitions, masterclasses, and an exhibition hall with purveyors of beginning, intermediate, and professional flutes, music, and accessories.

Tickets range from $20 to $35 for Festival participants. Tickets for non-flutist family members of participants (parents, siblings) are available for at a special rate of $5.

Registration information is available online. Tickets may also be purchased at the Festival.
The evening concert beginning at 5:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.

Open House at BicycleWise

If you have ever wanted to learn more about bicycle frame building or about the bicycles being built in Whitewater, Sotherland Custom Bicycles invites you to an after hours Open House at BicycleWise.  John Sotherland will discuss his frame building process and his frame building class.  He will also take a few people into the frame shop and give them a hands-on introduction to brazing.

30 Hour Famine | St. Patrick Catholic Church

On Friday, Feb 23rd starting at 4:30pm through the evening of Saturday, Feb 24th, ending at about 7:00pm, 8th grade and high school youth will unite together to bring awareness to our global and local famine crisis, by participating in a 30-hour famine. For more information, 

Three Finalists Selected for Whitewater Chief of Police Position

The Police and Fire Commission of the City of Whitewater is pleased to announce that they have selected three finalists for the position of Chief of Police.

Interviews for the three candidates will take place Thursday, March 1, 2018. A community “Meet and Greet” for the finalists will be held at the Cravath Lakefront Building from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This Meet and Greet is open to the public and citizens are encouraged to attend and extend each candidate with a warm welcome. The names of the finalists will be released in the near future.

Greater Whitewater Committee Annual Meeting

Matt Moroney to speak on Foxconn at Greater Whitewater Committee Annual Meeting

The annual meeting is open to the public, all are invited. Matt Moroney, the Wisconsin Department of

Administration’s Strategic Economic Initiative Director, will be the keynote speaker. Moroney will provide information about Foxconn and how the company will impact the surrounding cities and Wisconsin as a whole to the Greater Whitewater Committee, business owners and citizen in the Whitewater area.

Four Whippet Alumni make UW-La Crosse Dean’s List

The following students have been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for the fall semester of the 2017-18 academic year, ending December 2017.
Qualification for the Dean’s List is limited to students who have attained outstanding academic achievement. To be eligible, students must have earned not less than a 3.5 semester grade point average and have carried a minimum of 12 credits.

Amanda Herold, Whippet Alumna, Makes UW-Eau Claire Dean’s List

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has named Amanda Herold to its Dean’s List for the 2017 fall semester. Amanda is a 2015 graduate of Whitewater High School and is in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.  Amanda is the daughter of Bob and Carol Herold, of Whitewater.
