LeRoy was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 24, 1940. He graduated from Southern Illinois University and taught woodshop in Wheaton, Illinois. Leroy, however, was an entrepreneur at heart and moved to Richmond, Wisconsin to create and design products for the craft and gift industries until his retirement in 2015. He was known as a “Master Craftsman” in the miniatures industry and 2 of his dollhouses are on display at House on the Rock in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
Although LeRoy lived in the Whitewater area for half his life he remained an avid Chicago sports fan. He cheered and jeered countless Bears, Cubs and Bulls games from his recliner. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, softball, pool and ping pong as well as mowing lawn in the sun and relaxing on the pontoon boat on Whitewater Lake with an icy beverage.
