From Coach Dittmer:

We lost the meet 6-1 and we are now 1-2 in RVC play this season. Our lone win was Austin Kaja in his #2 singles against Connor Paulin of East Troy. Austin was able to handle his opponent’s big serve and dictate a lot of the points with crisp groundstrokes. He won the match with an impressive score of 6-0, 6-1. The rest of our singles lineup showed good resilience by battling back and winning the all the second sets after dropping the opening set in each case.

Unfortunately, we were unable to take advantage of any of the second set victories as we dropped all three match tiebreakers. East Troy did a good job of raising their game during key points in the tiebreaks. Our doubles matches did not go very well across the board. We were unable to win a set at any of the doubles flights. That being said, I did see a lot of opportunities for us to put points away, but we just couldn’t come up with our best shots when we needed them. Credit East Troy for great hustle and effort to put a lot of balls in play. We definitely had some weaknesses exposed today, but that gives us some things to work on in practice this week.

We don’t have another meet until next Monday so hopefully we can correct some of the mistakes we made by then and get next week off to a better start.
