UW-Whitewater Women’s Basketball Outlasted by No. 11 Trine

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women’s basketball team suffered its first loss away from home of the 2018-19 season Friday, falling 71-55 against No. 11 Trine (Ind.) in a non-conference contest on the first day of the Pat Deacon Classic at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky.

With the loss, the Warhawks (6-4 overall) will face Methodist (N.C.) in Saturday’s consolation final at 3 p.m. Central Time.

Trine (10-1) outscored UW-Whitewater 47-24 in the first half after the Warhawks led 31-24 at halftime. The Thunder held a 40-12 advantage on points in the paint.

our 3-pointers. Sophomore guard Adriana Green hit three 3-pointers on her way to an 11-point outing.

Second-Half Surge Helps Warhawk Men Move to 10-0

he No. 10 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men’s basketball team erased a deficit in the second half and continued to extend its lead in a 79-59 victory over Sul Ross State (Texas) in a non-conference affair at Concordia University in Austin, Texas.

Trailing 48-43 with 14:13 on the clock in the second half, the Warhawks (10-0) posted a 13-0 run, highlighted by back-to-back 3-pointers from senior guard Dalton Menke, and never led by fewer than nine the rest of the way.

Menke tallied a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead UW-Whitewater. Senior guard Malik Clements posted 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals, while senior guard David Sachs registered 12 points and five assists.

Senior forward Derek Rongstad recorded 11 points, five rebounds and two steals, and junior guard Tywon Bressler chipped in with nine points and three rebounds.

The Warhawks conclude their trip to Austin Saturday at 7 p.m. against host Concordia Texas.
