From Coach Carstens:

What a great day to be a CC runner! The girls’ race was first and they had to contend with strong rain throughout the race that made for an experience they will not soon forget. The Whippets were determined to not let the rain get in the way of having successful races. Leading the charge was senior Nicole Tomomitsu who placed 6th after a hard-fought sprint to the finish over two pack runners from Palmyra-Eagle. Crystal Chan had a nice performance compared to her race last Saturday to finish in 22:47 and Hailey Prager challenged herself more today by going out with and running along with Crystal which allowed her to finished with a time of 23:16. The girls’ varsity finished in 6th place out of 11 teams competing.

On the boys’ side, the rain was almost finished but the course got very sloppy from the first event which allowed them the opportunity to gain some mental toughness and push through such slippery conditions. Gio Anello returned to the line up in spectacular fashion and secured himself a medal in 12th place. The boys looked strong and competed hard which is what it is ultimately about when conditions are like this. The times aren’t fast, but the experience is awesome! Will Hofmann was the team’s 2nd runner and close behind was newcomer Manny Rodriguez as the team’s 3rd runner. They finished 25th and 28th, respectively. The boys’ varsity and JV teams finished in 6th overall out of 11 teams competing.
