Public is invited to join a St. Patrick Catholic Church group to practice a Contemplative meditation called “Centering Prayer”.

The Centering Prayer was developed as a response to the Vatican II invitation to revive the contemplative teachings of early Christianity and present them in updated formats. Today Centering Prayer is practiced by people all around the world, creating local and global networks of Christians in communion with Christ and each other and contributing to the renewal of the contemplative dimension of Christianity.

You will find the consistent practice of centering prayer to be transformative. It offers spiritual gifts as we become more and more conscious of the Presence of our loving God, even in the midst of our daily activities. Centering Prayer can inspire us to become kinder, more compassionate people. This practice also offers additional gifts personal to each individual.

Each session would begin by discussing a chapter of the book Open Heart, Open Mind by Rev. Thomas Keating. This book offers practical and spiritual insights into the practice and the fruits received from centering prayer.

In centering prayer, we welcome God’ presence and action within us and then we let go of thinking and simply sit in the intimacy of God’s presence.

The first gathering is scheduled for Monday, January 22 at 5:00 p.m. in Room 11 of Berry Hall.

Meetings would be every other Monday at the same time and place.

If you have any questions please call Jacquie Titus at 262-458-2678.

Presented by Adult Faith Formation, St. Patrick Catholic Church of Whitewater.
