From Coach Sdano:

The Lady Whippets played excellent defense behind Sara Johnson’s solid pitching to defeat Edgerton 2-0.

Johnson went the distance in earning her 5th win of the season. She allowed only 2 hits while walking 2 and striking out 7.

Whitewater scored their first run in the 4th inning as Jacee Johnson singled with one out. Sara Johnson grounded out to third base advancing Jacee to second. With two outs, Kiyla Kopecky had one of her three hits on the day to drive in Jacee.

The Whippets got an insurance run in the 6th inning as Alyssa Schumacher tripled with one out. With two outs, Sara Johnson singled to score Schumacher and give the Whippets a 2-0 lead.

That was all the runs the team needed as Sara Johnson shut down the Crimson Tide the rest of the way. Whitewater is now 7-8 overall and 7-4 in conference. The Whippets will be busy this week as they play at Beloit Turner on Tuesday, travel to Big Foot on Wednesday, and then have home games on Thursday and Friday against Beloit Turner and Evansville respectively.
