#FlashbackFriday with the Historical Society: Minimal football uniforms – 1909

It’s time once again for #FlashbackFriday with the Whitewater Historical Society.

It’s also time once again for our annual “I can’t believe they only wore that type of uniform to play football” photo. This 1909 image sits in our Whitewater High School folder. In November of 1909, the Whitewater Register noted that the high school team closed out an “unsatisfactory” season on a high note by playing a team from Waukesha to a 0-0 tie. Merton Ridge of the Whitewater team was praised because he played most of the game with a broken arm! No wonder these guys look so tough in this photo.

Join us next week for more from the Whitewater Historical Society.
