From Coach Foucault:

The Whippets had an outstanding meet at Sectionals! The team will head to State on Friday, February 15, 2019 in the following events: Young Liang 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke, Jack Mayer 50 and 100 Freestyle and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Jack Mayer, Michael Kuhl, Devin Bazeley and Young Liang. Jonathan Manriquez will serve as an alternate for our State relay.

The team had several outstanding swims at Sectionals. Our 200 Medley Relay team of Michael Kuhl, Young Liang, Devin Bazeley and Jack Mayer swam a season best time, just a bit off the State qualifying time. Michael Kuhl swam a best time in the lead off 100 of his 200 Freestyle race, while teammate Devin Bazeley posted a lifetime best time in his 200 Freestyle. Devin now holds the 4th fastest time in the 200 Freestyle all time. Young Liang finished 3rd in the 200 Individual Medley posting a season best time and qualified for this year’s State meet with this swim. We had 3 swimmers compete in the 50 Freestyle. Zach Tomomitsu and Jonathan Manriquez both posted season best times. Jack Mayer finished 3rd overall and qualified for the State meet with his best time. Jovany Manriquez was the first to swim the 100 Freestyle with a season best time. Jack Mayer then raced to a best time and qualified for the State meet. Jack is now 4th all time in the 100 Freestyle. Both Antonio Aranda and Devin Bazeley raced hard and improved their times in the 500 Freestyle. Our 200 Freestyle Relay of Jack Mayer, Michael Kuhl, Devin Bazeley and Young Liang finished 4th, broke the school record and qualified for the State meet with their outstanding group effort! Jonathan Manriquez dropped 4.5 seconds off his best time in his 100 Backstroke. A big thanks to Zach Tomomitsu for stepping up and taking on an additional swim at Sectionals; Jovany Manriquez, Jonathan Manriquez, Antonio Aranda and Zach Tomomitsu finished out the day with a great time in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Congrats to all the swimmers for their outstanding swims at Sectionals.
