Looking for a fun way to spend Mother’s Day morning? Come to the Bird Walk at Beulah Bog in East Troy, sponsored by Kettle Moraine Land Trust and Friends of the Mukwonago River. The walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, May 13th, and registration is required. Please register by calling Maggie Zoellner at 262-949-7211. This free event will conclude at 10:30 a.m.
Two birding experts will guide participants, Derek Sallman from Friends of the Mukwonago River and Jim Marrari from the Kettle Moraine Chapter of the Wild Ones. These experienced birders will walk on the trail at Beulah Bog State Natural Area on Stringers Bridge Road, which features a restored woodland as well as the bog itself. Several species of birds call Beulah Bog home and there should be migratory activity too. Spring plants may be in bloom, including several carnivorous species.
The family-friendly hike is on an ungroomed footpath with some hilly areas and may include a boardwalk, weather permitting, Please note, the trails are not stroller-friendly. Comfortable walking shoes and binoculars are recommended. Leave pets at home, they would scare the birds!
Parking is limited so if possible, carpool from the Park and Ride lot at the East Troy Airport on County Road L to Beulah Bog on Stringers Bridge Road, 0.8 miles south of County Road J.
