The Whitewater Varsity Volleyball Squad (5-1 conference, and 16-6 overall) hosted Jefferson for Senior Night and swept the Eagles 25-17, 25-9, 25-4.

The Whippets highlighted seniors Sierrah Allen, Cristal Verduzco (Manager), Caroline Skindingsrude, Jenna Pope, CC Alexander, Cali Kopecky, Caleigh Yang, and Kindyl Kilar.
Coach Kilar kicked off the night by honoring the Jefferson seniors and presenting them with a small gift saying, “Please accept this small token of our appreciation to the dedication of the seniors on the Jefferson team, and know that the Whippets wish you the best of luck in your future!”
Turning attention to the Whippet seniors, Kilar continued, “I wanted to share how much this group has meant to me. Taking over as head coach came as a bit of surprise. But as I reflect on how the season has gone so far, that surprise has quickly turned into such a blessing.
I’ve gotten to experience growing with this crew, helping them develop into awesome volleyball players, but most importantly, I have been able to watch in awe of what great humans they are. This senior class has led by example in the classroom, on the court, and in the community. They have shared their love of the game with each one of us in the gym.
It’s been great being able to watch them grow as an assistant coach over the years, and it has been a true honor to become their head coach in their final season. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, that each one of these young women will go on and do great things after they graduate from Whitewater High School. Seniors, we wish you the absolute best as you complete your final high school year, and we thank you for leaving this volleyball program better, because you have been part of it!”

The Whippets then took to the court and ran off three straight set wins against the Eagles. All the seniors led the way with their play on the court, and statistical leaders included Kindyl Kilar with a double-double of 14 kills and 10 aces, Calli Grosinske with 12 assists, and Caleigh Yang with 8 digs.
This is simply a great TEAM. They are all in for each other and it shows every night as they leave it all on the court!

The 5th Annual Southern Lakes Conference reunion will be on Friday, Oct. 7th again at the Place To Be in downtown Elkhorn at noon. This year we are including the years from 1954 to 1962. So anyone who played any sport in the old SLC those years please try to attend. Please contact some of your teammates from those years to come. It is a good time to talk old times with some of your foes from years ago and have a great lunch. If anyone has any questions you can contact me Tom Kraus gatortom57@yahoo.com 262-215-9985.
Editor’s note: We recognize that the logo for the conference, and the schools that were part of the conference, were probably different in 1954-1962. If someone has a logo from that era we’ll be pleased to use it!
Editor’s note, 9/28 @ 9:40 a.m. – Phone number for Tom Kraus corrected.
The Whitewater Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team cruised to an away win at Jefferson High School last Thursday evening, September 22. A small bench meant that our starters would have to play close to a full game each against a physically strong Jefferson team.

Whitewater managed to control the pace of the game from the opening moments and allowed Jefferson little time on the ball. A great bit of attacking play led to a corner, and with the help from some chaos in the box, Victor Hernandez managed to put one away for the Whippets. Many other chances were created but not converted, but overall, Whitewater looked stronger in the attack than they have in weeks.
Henry Mortimer managed to keep a clean sheet with the help of strong defensive performances from Chris Cortez, Emmanuel Mbifi, and Emerson Ellenwood.
The team has a week off before they face the always competitive McFarland on Thursday the 29th.
