Whitewater Community Fundraising Partners to raise money for the Whitewater K9 Unit

Join the Whitewater Community Fundraising Partners on Saturday, July 28, 2018, as we host a full day of activities to raise money for the Whitewater K9 Unit. All events begin and end at Cold Spring Golf Center.

The day starts off with a fun 5K run/walk at 8 am and is $20. Each participant receives a t-shirt, goodie bag, and 1 ticket for the grand prize drawing. Awards to the top 2 male and top 2 female runners and top 2 walkers.

The Poker Run begins at 10 am and is $30 for the first rider, $25 – 2nd rider and $25 for each additional hand. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, lunch, 1 raffle ticket for the grand prize drawing. All Vehicles are welcome. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the Poker Run

The 9 Hole Golf Outing begins at 12 pm and is $120 per foursome. Includes food, t-shirt, 1 raffle ticket for the grand prize. Prizes will also be awarded at the end of the tournament.

The public is welcome to join us at 4:30 pm for appetizers, DJ, and Silent Auction. Entertainment until 7p.m.

 Chanceux Saxophone Quartet

 Birge Fountain in front of the Cultural Arts Center, 402 W. Main St.

The Chanceux Saxophone Quartet was founded in 2016 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. They serve as a premiere, in-demand student performance ensemble for the university, having performed as a part of the UW-Whitewater saxophone studio recitals, their own recital, and recently performed the concerto “Capriccio” by Warren Barker with the University Community Band. They frequently perform for UW-Whitewater Music Department events such as audition days, open houses, and tours.

Wonder – June 12 at 12:30 PM, Seniors in the Park

Wonder is a 2017 American drama film directed by Stephen Chbosky and written by Jack Thorne, Steve Conrad, and Stephen Chbosky, based on the 2012 novel of the same name by R.J. Palacio. The film stars Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, and Jacob Tremblay and follows a child with Treacher Collins syndrome trying to fit in. Wonder was released in the United States on November 17, 2017, by Lionsgate. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences including being nominated for Best Makeup and Hairstyling at the 90th Academy Awards.

Whitewater Kiwanis works to keep Highway 12 clean

The Kiwanis Whitewater Breakfast Club spent Saturday morning, on June 9, helping to keep the highway clean via the Adopt-A-Highway program. A team of seven picked up 15 large bags of garbage on Highway 12 in La Grange.

“Serving our community is a primary purpose of our club. Cleaning up the highway is one of many contributions that our members make,” said Lynn Binnie, coordinator of the Kiwanis Adopt-A-Highway program.
