Obituary: Teresa Ann (McDonald) Hering, 76

Teresa Ann (McDonald) Hering left this world on July 9, 2023 due to complications from Alzheimer ’s disease. Terry was born February 16, 1947, to Keith and Mildred (Northrup) McDonald in Canton, IL. She was the youngest of 7 and spent her childhood on the family farm near Genoa City, WI helping care for chickens, cows, cats, and dogs.

Terry studied education at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater (UWW), where she met Timothy Hering. They married on August 2, 1969, and started their family in Whitewater, WI.

Terry worked many different jobs, but her favorite was being a mom. She spent 20 years at the UWW and retired after 11 years in the library. In retirement she was able to follow her passion of sharing her paintings with the world.

Tere was a ray of sunshine throughout her life. She loved cats and dogs, music, singing, art, beauty, the ocean, travel, gardening, laughing, and being Ama to her grandchildren. She was a talented artist, and the best at supporting her family and friends. Tere loved to share her fun and was quite often goofy and helped to keep those around her looking on the bright side of life.

She is survived by daughters, Amy Hering Randall of St. Paul, MN, Kelly (Chad) Murray of Eau Claire, WI, and Laura (Joe) Granger of Duluth, MN, grandchildren, Vida, Elsa, Zen, Daniel, Iris, and Violet, siblings Mary Miller, and Paul (Sue) McDonald, many loving nieces and nephews, and many friends made during her journey through this life.

Tere was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Mildred McDonald, husband, Tim Hering, and siblings Gary MacDonald, Sabra Burkoth, William McDonald, and Sandy McDonald.

We wish Tere many more happy adventures, and will always try to carry her love of beauty, nature, laughter, and kindness with us.

Teresa’s family wishes to thank her loving caregivers at Azura Memory Care and with St. Croix Hospice and asks that memorials be sent to the Stand in the Light Memory Choir of Eau Claire, WI (https://www.standinthelightmemorychoir.org) or the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (https://www.adrc.wisc.edu/give). A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com.

Seniors in the Park Presents Colossus: The Forbin Project

“Colossus: The Forbin Project”
Tuesday, July 25, 1 p.m.
(Science Fiction/Thriller) Rated PG-13
1 hour, 41 minutes. (1970)

It’s been said that science fiction anticipates the future and reality. Equate that with AI or artificial intelligence. In this well-regarded classic film, an Elon Musk type electronics genius builds a super computer with a mind of its own; or so he thinks, until he learns, so have the Soviets. When the two artificial intelligences begin to communicate with each other,
machines-world domination over human beings is imminent. Stars Eric Braeden, Susan Clark and William Schallert.

Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Former State Representative

Gov. Tony Evers signed Executive Order #207 ordering the flags of the United States and the state of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff on Sat., July 22, 2023, in honor of former State Rep. Michael Endsley, who passed away peacefully on July 13, 2023, at 61 years old.

“On behalf of the state of Wisconsin, I share our deepest condolences with Andrew, Katie, Beverly, Michelle, and the entire Endsley family on Michael’s passing,” said Gov. Evers. “He was a hardworking businessman, dedicated public servant, avid history buff, enthusiastic Green Bay Packer fan, and by all accounts, a great father and friend to all those who knew him. He will be missed.”

Endsley was first elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2010, where he served two terms representing Wisconsin’s 26th Assembly District. While in the Assembly, he chaired the Aging and Long-Term Care Committee and was vice-chair for the Jobs, Economy, and Small Business and Small Business Development Committees.

In 2014, Endsley was diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) that later developed into early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. A dedicated advocate and committed public servant, Endsley spent his time learning about Alzheimer’s disease, educating others, and helping all those affected by the disease and other dementias.

Memorial services for former State Rep. Endsley will be held on Sat., July 22, 2023, in Sheboygan Falls.
